I started this blog because I, like many other people, are afraid of dentists, afraid of the pain, the drills, and mostly how out of control our situation can be when we visit a new dentist.

I felt this way when my dentist retired and I had to find a new dentist. Now, I want to help others avoid choosing the wrong dentist since there are many out there, so here is my advice, BE CAREFUL!

Besides, then I thought that this dental visit may turn out to be very expensive, especially if I have more cavities, tooth decay, need a cleaning, bridge work, crowns, periodontal work or worse yet, maybe a root canal.

My Dental Experience!

Well, at the time, I had a bad toothache that I put off for awhile, but then the tooth cracked, and it started to bother me, so that was it, I needed to find a dentist.

I originally looked through the Yellow Pages and then I looked online for some sign of a good dentist, but found none. Then I just chose one that was in my area, who had no recommendations, but the dental office was in Morris County, seemed professional enough from what I saw online. amd the outside of the office looked nice. This dental office even sent out COUPONS! Yes, that would be good for me, I can save money.

Well, the office was nice inside, but I was Wrong about the dentist. No one tells you about the dentist if he is caring or good or gentle, on that note, my fellow friends, you will only find out when you are in the dentist’s hot seat!

The dentist stated I needed a cleaning, the tooth was broken and might be infected, and I may need a root canal. He also stated I had many cavities and needed alot of work, along with periodontal work. Well, he did some work on one tooth and it was painful, it wasn’t a pleasant experience. I found out later he didn’t really care enough if I was numb.

This exam was all because I had coupons?

Well, I didn’t like the staff and dentist, he was somewhat rough and not caring and the office billing clerk wanted me to pay upfront for everything. I only had a comprehensive oral exam, a cleaning, and one tooth was drilled in, nothing further at this time! The Xrays were supposed to be included and the final costs were more than the coupon stated.

This office never informed me prior to dental work that I would have to pay an enormous out-of-pocket expense that wasn’t covered by my insurance and the work on one tooth was done incorrectly.

That was the end of that experience, I left the office, paid for what I had to and searched relentlessly for a better dentist that someone eventually recommended to me.

This new dentist that was recommended in the area of Morris County and Kinnelon was absolutely the best! The dental staff and hygienist were very nice and caring! The prognosis was not as bad as I first thought by the previous dentist. The hygienist took all the x-rays and completed an oral cancer screening and that was free as a new client. The office staff figured out how much the total bills would be and it wasn’t nearly as much as first thought!

I didn’t need a root canal, but would need a crown and periodontal work and cleaning. It seems the cleaning I had at the other dentist was not done properly, all the tartar wasn’t removed. These new hygienists are so gentle and caring that it was a pleasure going there and the dentist is a friendly, gentle person, not rough!
